Statistics in the field of health covers two parts - health statistics and statistics on disability to work due to disease and injury.
Data in health statistics are collected mainly within the annual state statistical surveys performed under the Ministry of Health of the SR by the National Health Information Centre. It is concerned about the data from the domains of: outpatient and inpatient health care, common curative and diagnostic units, network of health care facilities in the SR and health status. The National Health Information Centre also has available other data on the health status of inhabitants from the statistical surveys realised on the basis of legislation of the Ministry of Health of the SR (www.nczisk.sk).
Another data sources on health are the administrative data sources of the Public Health Authority of the SR (www.uvzsr.sk), the State Institute for Control of Drugs (www.sukl.sk), health insurance companies and the Social Insurance Agency (www.socpoist.sk).
Basic data on health is available in the Statistical Yearbook of the SR, the Social Trends of the SR and in other publications of the Statistical Office of the SR.
Statistics on disability to work contains a broad range of information on disability to work due to disease and injury under sickness insurance group, by NACE classification, and by regions and districts.
It covers the data on average number of health insured persons, the number of newly notified cases of disability to work (DW) and calendar DW days for disease, work injuries and other injuries, the data on fatal work injuries, juvenile DW (average number of health insured, the number of newly notified cases of work injuries, the number of calendar days of work injuries and the number of fatal work injuries), the number of newly notified occupational diseases, the number of compensated industrial injuries and occupational diseases, the pay-out total sum of benefits, the number of cases of regression benefits, the data on total sum of regression benefits paid to public service, the total costs spent on work injuries and occupation diseases, the number of employees included in enterprise medical care and the number of employees at hazardous workplaces.
