In March, the total export of goods increased by 21,7 % to EUR 4 069,7 million and the total import grew by 16,7 % to EUR 3 872,6 million, compared with the corresponding period last year.
The foreign trade balance was in surplus of EUR 197,2 million.

The Slovak Republic had the highest balance surplus with Poland (EUR 365,3 million), Austria (EUR 359,7 million), France (EUR 324,3 million), Italy (EUR 303,2 million), Germany (EUR 228,5 million), the Czech Republic (EUR 205,1 million), Spain (EUR 186,3 million), United Kingdom (EUR 183,1 million) and the Netherlands (EUR 175 million).
The biggest balance deficit was in foreign-trade activity with the Russian Federation (EUR 742,7 million), the Republic of Korea (EUR 709,6 million), China (EUR 289,5 million), Taiwan (EUR 198,6 million), Japan (EUR 136,8 million), Malaysia (EUR 52,5 million) and Ukraine (EUR 27,7 million).
Goods in the amount of EUR 10 564,1 million were exported from the Slovak Republic. Compared with the corresponding period in 2009, the total export increased by 17,9 %.
In terms of goods, export of motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for transport of persons increased more considerably by EUR 596 million, parts and accessories of motor vehicles by EUR 138 million, parts of transmitting equipment for radio broadcasting and television by EUR 103 million and flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, hot-rolled by EUR 93,8 million.
Export of reception apparatus for television, monitors and projectors decreased most by EUR 222,2 million, bodies (coachwork) for motor vehicles by EUR 55,7 million, cutting machines by EUR 15,1 million and structures and parts of structures, of iron or steel by EUR 14,1 million.
From the most significant trade partners, export increased to Germany by 6,2 %, the Czech Republic by 22,4 %, Poland by 32,6 %, France by 4,2 %, Austria by 34,8 %, Italy by 15,6 %, Hungary by 12,2 %, the Russian Federation by 20,4 %, Spain by 41,6 % and China by 388,7 %. Export decreased to United Kingdom by 8,5 %, and to the Netherlands by 5,9 %.
The export to the EU countries increased by 13,9 % (it represented 84,5 % of the total export of the SR) and export to the OECD countries was up by 16,1 % (it represented 86,8 % of the total export of the SR) in terms of the main economic groupings.
Goods in the amount of EUR 10 255,3 million were imported to the Slovak Republic; there was a 11,5 % year-on-year increase.
In terms of goods, import of parts and accessories of motor vehicles increased most by EUR 275,3 million, petroleum oils and oils from crude bitumen mineral by EUR 173,1 million, combustion piston engines by EUR 65,1 million, products with liquid crystals by EUR 58,4 million and copper waste and scrap by EUR 56,4 million.
Import of parts of transmitting equipment for radio broadcasting and television decreased most by EUR 40,7 million, articles for funfair, table or parlour games by EUR 36,2 million, bituminous coal by EUR 35,2 million, reception apparatus for television, monitors and projectors by EUR 29,1 million and petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons by EUR 24,2 million.
In relation to the most significant trade partners, import increased from Germany by 23,4 %, the Czech Republic by 11,3 %, the Russian Federation by 23,5 %, the Republic of Korea by 27,3 %, France by 11,7 % and Austria by 11,7 %, Poland by 24,3 % and Italy by 1,7 %. Import decreased from China by 0,1 %, Hungary by 0,3 % and United Kingdom by 10,7 %.
Import from the EU countries was up by 8,9 % (it represented 65,7 % of the total import) and import from the OECD countries increased by 12,1 % (it represented 69,2 % of the total import of the SR) in terms of the main economic groupings.
