more detailed data
The industrial production index (IPI) increased by 19,2 %, year-on-year in March and reached a slighter increase than in January and February. The development was affected by a rise in manufacturing by 20,9 %, in mining and quarrying by 15,5 % and in electricity, gas, steam and air-condition supply by 12,2 %.
Production increased most considerably in the following industrial sectors (that affected most a rise of the total production): manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (by 60,5 %), manufacture of transport equipment (by 43,2 %), manufacture of electrical equipment (by 34 %), manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment (by 24,8 %) and electricity, gas, steam and air-condition supply (by 12,2 %). The total production was affected by a decrease in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (by 10,5 %) and in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (by 7,9 %).
In March, compared with March 2009 and by the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 39,1 %, production of intermediate goods by 25,4 %, production of non-durable consumer goods by 12,3 % and production related to energy by 7 %. Production of durable consumer goods decreased by 9,7 %.
Industrial production (after seasonality adjustment) increased by 1,7 % in March compared with February.
Since the beginning of year, IPI increased by 20,2 % year-on-year, of which in manufacturing by 22,3 %, in mining and quarrying by 11,8 % and in electricity, gas, steam and air-condition supply by 12 %. Production increased most considerably in the following industrial sectors (that affected most a growth of the total production): manufacture of transport equipment (by 50 %), machinery and equipment n.e.c. (by 49,5 %), metal and fabricated metal products except of machinery and equipment (by 24 %), textiles, apparel, leather and related products (by 23,2 %) and in electricity, gas, steam and air-condition supply (by 12 %). Production decreased only in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 9,3 %.
By the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 38,7 %, production of intermediate goods by 25 %, production of non-durable consumer goods by 12,9 %, production related to energy by 6,2 % and production of durable consumer goods by 1,6 % in the 1st quarter.

Note: preliminary results; Industrial production index represents volume production changes in its natural expression. Data are adjusted from the influence of the number of working days by programme DEMETRA and during processing of every month they are re-adjusted from the beginning of the time series. In March the number of working days was higher by 1 day compared with March 2009 and it was coincident with the corresponding period last year in the 1st quarter.
