Foreign trade definitive data of the year 2007

In 2007, goods in the amount of SKK 1 426 495 billion were exported from the Slovak Republic. Compared to the year 2006, the total export grew by 15,8 %.

In terms of goods, the total export of private cars and other motor vehicles mostly for transporting passengers increased more considerably by SKK 62 384 billion, television equipment by SKK 57 514 billion, bodies (coachwork) for motor vehicles by SKK 12 176 billion and parts and accessories of motor vehicles by SKK 9 449 billion.

The total export of data processing facilities decreased the most by SKK 14 595 billion, flat rolled products of iron or non-alloyed steel, cold rolled by SKK 2 839 billion, electricity by SKK 2 691 billion and semi-finished products of iron or non-alloyed steel by SKK 2 129 billion.

From the most significant trade partners, the total export increased to Germany 5,7 %, to the Czech Republic 5 %, France 76,4 %, Hungary 22 %, Italy 12,9%, Poland 15,9 %, Austria 10,9 %, United Kingdom 43,8 % and Spain 24,7 %. The export declined to the Netherlands by 3 %.

The total export to the EU countries increased by 15,7 % (it represented 86,7 % of the total export of the SR) and to the OECD countries by 14,4 % (it represented 88,6 % of the total export of the SR) in terms of the main economic groupings.

Goods in the amount of SKK 1 448 336 billion were imported to the Slovak Republic; there was 10,6 % year-on-year increase.

In terms of goods, the total import of parts and accessories for transmitting equipment for radio and TV broadcasting increased the most SKK 67 364 billion, parts and accessories of motor vehicles by SKK 30 304 billion, electrical equipment for wire telephoning or telegraphing by SKK 12 279 billion, piston compression engines by SKK 7 095 billion and private cars and other motor vehicles mostly for transporting passengers by SKK 6 881 billion.

The total import of products with liquid crystals decreased the most by SKK 30 715 billion, petroleum gasses and other gaseous hydrocarbon by SKK 18 131 billion, transmitting equipment for radiotelephoning, radiotelegraphing, radio and TV broadcasting by SKK 13 488 billion, reversible or rotary spark-ignition piston compression engines by SKK 6 325 billion and lifting and handling equipment by SKK 2 942 billion.

From the most significant trade partners, the total import increased from Germany 6 %, from the Czech Republic 5 %, Hungary 30,7 %, China 51,7 %, the Republic of Korea 44,5 %, Poland 3,4 %, France 30,3 % and Austria 0,8 %. The total import decreased from the Russian Federation 9,6 % and Italy 5,1 %.
The total import from the EU countries in relation to the corresponding period of the year 2006 rose by 10,7 % (it represented 69,5 % of the total import) and from the OECD countries by 9 % (it represented 66,1 % of the total import of the SR) in terms of the main economic groupings.

The foreign-trade balance was in deficit of SKK 21 841 billion (it was lower than in the corresponding period of 2006 by SKK 55 343 billion).

The highest balance deficit was in foreign-trade activity with the Russian Federation (SKK 103 254 billion), followed by the Republic of Korea (SKK 71 843 billion), China (SKK 62 826 billion), Taiwan (SKK 31 667 billion), Japan (SKK 18 147 billion) and Malaysia (SKK 5 305 billion).

The Slovak Republic had the highest balance surplus with United Kingdom (SKK 50 402 billion), followed by Austria (SKK 39 978 billion), France (SKK 39 281 billion), Italy (SKK 35 022 billion), Germany (SKK 31 975 billion), the Netherlands (SKK 31 697 billion), Poland (SKK 30 971 billion), the Czech Republic (SKK 28 401 billion), Spain (SKK 22 593 billion), the USA (SKK 21 009 billion) and Romania (SKK 18 534 billion).

Note: The information processed by the Statistical Office of the SR on the base of data taken from the Customs Directorate of the SR acquired within customs act and reports of INTRASTAT-SK proceeding, which were provided by recipients and senders of goods; the data is definitive, at current prices in the value of FOB type, by country of origin/destination, processed according to methodology effective as from 01.01.2007. The data on value of imported and exported electricity were estimated on the base of data on physical flows of electricity. Value of indirect imports and exports is not counted in the trade with non-member EU states. With regard to amendment in methodology but to enable their comparison the definitive data of the year 2006 were recalculated pursuant to methodology valid from 2007.
