Development of foreign trade in December and in 2008

In December, the total export of goods amounted to SKK 88,5 billion; there was 18,4 % year-on-year decrease. The total import of goods decreased by 17,3 % to SKK 99,3 billion. A fall of the total import of goods was the highest since 2005. The foreign trade balance was in deficit of SKK 10,8 billion (it was lower than in December 2007 by 0,8 billion).

In 2008, compared to 2007, the total export rose by 5,1 % to SKK 1 493,2 billion (EUR 47,7 billion) and the total import increased by 4,9 % to SKK 1 513 billion (EUR 48,4 billion) in relation to the corresponding period last year.

The foreign-trade balance was in deficit of SKK 19,8 billion (it was lower than in the corresponding period in 2007 by SKK 1,6 billion).
